Hi! My name is Amanda Schueler and I was recently married. In fact, my
wedding was only five months ago. I still have nightmares (or dreams rather) of not fitting into my dress, of cake falling onto the floor and of stumbling my way down the aisle. If you haven’t had one of these dreams yet, you probably will. It is a common part of planning a wedding.
Anyways, back to our topic. A girl’s dream is to have the perfect man, the perfect dress and of course, the perfect body. For many of us, we have struggled with body weight and body image for our entire lives.
When I was 16, I was on the high school dance team. This is when I started my own battle with food and fitness. Our dance instructor told us to “watch what we ate”. Looking back, I had absolutely no idea what that meant. I remember buying licorice because it was fat free. I also remember skipping meals, becoming obsessed with lettuce and reading nutrition labels like it was my job description. As I started college, I knew I needed to learn more about nutrition. This is when I decided to pursue a career as a dietitian.
Today, I enjoy helping people of all ages learn how to eat better. Maybe I can help someone control a disease or an allergy. For others, I am privileged help them combat their issues with food. When I work with people, I teach a way of eating that works for a lifetime. Nothing is trendy about real food. We learn that cooking foods at home is the best way to control portions and body weight. We also discuss the reality that nobody is perfect and that we are all allowed that third (and even fourth) glass of wine occasionally.
If you are planning a wedding and would like help with your body weight goals, please reach out to me. I would be honored to discuss working with you and giving you some guidance in your individual battle with food. You can visit me at Elden’s Fresh Foods, or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
I hope to meet you at the upcoming Lakes Area Wedding Expo in January,
